Book Review | A World Full of Compassion | Ruchi Bansal
Some books make you think about the world differently, some make you self reflect. A World Full of Compassion by Ruchi Bansal belongs to the latter.
Ruchi is an old friend, and I have known her and her family for many years. When she first spoke to me about writing this book, I saw it as a personal project she wanted to pursue. In one year she turned it into such a thoughtful book. Having now read it, I am genuinely impressed by how beautifully she has put her thoughts and experiences into words.
I related to the book because many of the situations she describes are part of everyday life. Having known Ruchi, her husband and her daughter, I could easily visualise some of the experiences she shares. It made the reading experience even more personal.
What I Learned from A World Full of Compassion
One of the things I liked about the book is its practical approach to compassion. Ruchi doesn’t present it as something that requires extraordinary effort or a change in our entire lives. Instead, she shows how it can begin with small things: listening patiently, holding back a harsh reply or taking a moment before reacting during a disagreement.
Being compassionate doesn’t mean agreeing with everyone or avoiding difficult conversations, it requires both care and courage. Sometimes, it means setting boundaries, accepting our mistakes and having the courage to do what is right.
She highlights that that compassion doesn’t belong to saints or special occasions. It belongs in our kitchens, workplaces, family conversations and everyday interactions. I think this is one of the most important messages of the book.

Who Should Read This Book?
While reading it, I found myself reflecting on my own behaviour and identifying several things I could practise in my daily life. That, for me, is what makes a book meaningful.
A World Full of Compassion is not a book that promises to change the world overnight. Instead, it encourages us to make small changes in how we treat the people around us. If you enjoy light, thoughtful and relatable reads that offer lessons you can actually apply in everyday life, this book is worth picking up.
Congratulations to Ruchi on turning a personal project into a book that encourages its readers to pause, reflect and become a little more compassionate.
