What’s the connection between politics and social media
Imagine this:
You’re scrolling through your social media feed and suddenly you come across a motivational post that implores you to take action.
It could motivate you to start studying or starting an initiative you always wanted to.
BUT, before you know it, you’re already onto the next post, and the one you just saw is a distant memory.
All thanks to dopamine; We’re getting more addicted to new content! That is how social media companies with endless content use our addiction to make profits.
If we observe, POLITICIANS use similar tactics!
They launch new schemes and campaigns with great fanfare and publicity, but before we can even question the outcomes, they’re already onto the next one.
The point is, it is our responsibility to keep asking questions regarding the outcomes and results.
What was the outcome of the previous campaign? Did it deliver on its promises? Who benefitted from it?
We must consider if the taxes we pay help our country advance or if they are simply being squandered on frivolous campaigns and bogus schemes.
As citizens, it is time we reflect on how we want to exercise our rights. It is time for us to take control of our dopamine addiction and demand real impact from our leaders.
