Caroline Criado Perez’s book, ‘Invisible Women’ is an amazing read with a mountain of data showing gender bias in a different light.

Prior to reading the book, I thought I was doing more than enough for gender equality. Now, I know how biases are operating in my environment in insidious ways, despite being cautious.

Invisible Women reveals the true extent and magnitude of the ‘man’s world’ we live in. Through her research, Perez exposes the existing bias in almost every aspect of life – be it medical treatments (that fail to take the female biology into account), car safety features (that are designed for the male body), government policies, technology, and urban planning. Perez urges us to rethink the “default male” as NOT representing all human beings.

There is, however, no anger in her writing, despite the exposé. She is too busy offering evidence of the ‘man’s world’. Invisible women will make you see the world in a whole new light.

Some may call it a provocative book. But I believe it’s a must-read book for all men.
