Can ChatGPT leave you jobless?
Assume you are a content services company, looking to create an active digital presence to generate leads. You produce amazing search engine-optimised content for your website using AI tools, rank highest in search engines and attract high-profile clients. However, there’s no way in which you can justify the quality of content on your website, nor your dominant authority in the subject matter.
Eventually, this will end up in a loss of market trust and value.
We can expect three consequences of AI-generated content in the long term –
-
Search engines will come up with algorithms to distinguish between AI-generated content and human-generated content. (OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT has already launched a tool called Classifier to track content generated by AI)
-
People’s trust in search engines such as Google will decline. Instead of searching for a service provider online, they will go back to the traditional method of seeking references from friends and acquaintances.
-
Since the credibility of articles generated by AI tools is questionable, people will lose trust in online content. AI tools generate data by learning from user-generated content. But not every content available online is verified. When the AI tool gathers data, it would include content from unverified sources as well.

All in all, AI is the future. But instead of being suspicious of it or fearing it, we must look upon AI as an enabler. AI content tools can be useful in optimising research and enhancing content. But it would be bad practice to entirely rely on them to produce error-free content. They have limitations that only humans can address.
AI is here to stay and so are our jobs. From now on, we must look at smarter ways to integrate AI into our work so that we are more efficient.
